TheTicketingBusiness Forum is set to host hundreds of professionals from the ticketing and related industries in Manchester from April 19-20, including Elbphilharmonie und Laeiszhalle’s Moritz Kästner, who will be joining the Forum at Emirates Old Trafford.

Kästner is the head of visitor services and has been with Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg for over three years. He originally joined the Hall as head of plaza management before moving into the role of head of visitor services.

Prior to his role with Elbphilharmonie und Laeiszhalle, Kästner was the chief executive of Beckerbillett for almost nine years, which provides services including the printing of entrance tickets, visitor management software and administration, cash register systems, thermal and inkjet printers, and access control systems.

We spoke to Kästner about the trends in the industry and what he is most looking forward to at the Forum…

TheTicketingBusiness: What are the key current challenges and opportunities in the sector?

Moritz Kästner: Challenges include remaining attractive for visitors, opening up new visitor groups, and increasing costs. However, there are opportunities around accelerating technical innovation.

TTB: What are the most interesting trends you are witnessing in the sector?

MK: We are seeing changes in guests’ booking behaviour but we are also seeing a willingness of the customers to continue spending money on an excellent product.

TTB: What are your company’s plans over the coming year, and what are you looking forward to exploring more at the Forum?

MK: Our plans include opening up new target groups and creating more visitor experiences. I am looking forward to cross-industry exchanges with experts, identifying technical trends and gaining inspiration.
