Burnley FC has experienced mixed footballing fortunes recently as it has been either relegated or promoted in each of the last three seasons.
This makes the fan experience at home ground Turf Moor all the more important.
Prior to TheTicketingBusiness Forum 2025, which begins in Manchester on April 28, we spoke to the Championship club’s Head of Ticketing and Hospitality, Gareth Howells, to hear how to give supporters as much enjoyment as possible – regardless of goals!
What projects are you currently working on?
Gareth Howells: “We transitioned to a new ticketing partner at the start of this season and are still working through this change.
“Ahead of the 2025-26 season we are looking to improve the way we communicate to supporters with a suite of FAQ pages and how to guides.
“We are also looking to improve how we manage fan data and implement changes with our CRM.”
What are your aims for 2025?
GH: “We are aiming to ensure that we provide a great fan experience from the moment a ticket is purchased, to attending a fixture and post-game follow up.
“We also want to relaunch our membership offering to create a great entry level product offering for fans from Burnley and further afield.”
What’s the next challenge for you and your team?
GH: “Our immediate challenges will be around the end of the Championship season with potential for promotion or a run in the play-offs.
“We will need to manage resources effectively through this period to ensure fans have a positive experience.”
What is the most exciting development in the industry for you right now?
GH: “The improvement of stadium concourse technology, allowing fans with general admission tickets to have fantastic experiences.
“Improving choice and standard of food and drink offerings is key to this.”
